Class Activity

Today's class was very interesting because it taught me a real life experience and is because when people get to know other cultures people sometimes make false assumptions. After learning Description, Interpretation, and Evaluation I can imagine some real life occasions were people when observe others misinterpret their actions or beliefs. I believe that it is important when observing others to look carefully before making any assumptions or making negative comments. There are cultures that have different languages, believes, and traditions so it is important to know and learn about others to avoid misunderstandings. Everyone and especially global leaders who are involved with other cultures should definitely value and respect other people's religion and beliefs. It is good when observing or interacting with others from different cultures to show interest and appreciate other peoples background.

  2. This is very true! In all of my global-centered courses, the professors and textbooks emphasize the need to do research about the country or countrymen we are going to do business with, otherwise we WILL FAIL. Other cultures are so different from us, that if we ever ASSUME, they will make the same assumptions ABOUT US--that we are rude and loud and always are about the $$/results rather than the relationship (I think those are common [mis]conceptions about us).

I and a classmate of mine have discussed what it is like when people from the U.S. even just go to VISIT (leisure) another nation. Their attitude is appalling--expecting the world to speak English and disgusted or unhappy with anything that does not follow the stereotype or what is the norm back home.

We don't want to become people like that!!
